Why I Built This. When I was a college student, Craigslist was the go-to for broke college students trying to stretch every dollar. I needed a laptop and found what looked like a great deal. Local seller, photos of the actual machine, we set a date and time to meet. Then, 30 minutes before the meetup, he asked me to send payment first. I did. He disappeared. Gone.
I told myself I'd never get scammed again.
But scams have evolved far beyond Craigslist. My mom recently called me, shaken, because she'd received a call from someone who sounded exactly like her cousin. Same voice, same mannerisms. She was asking for money. Something felt off, so she called me instead of sending anything. I looked up the phone number. VoIP. Called it back. No answer. The caller had used AI voice cloning to impersonate a family member.
That's the reality now. Scammers use deepfake voices, spoofed numbers, convincing phishing sites, and AI-generated texts that are nearly indistinguishable from real ones. And your information is already out there. I've lost count of how many breach notification letters I've received from companies saying my data was compromised, each one offering the same hollow consolation: a year of free credit monitoring.
Everyone's data is exposed. Hackers know your name, your phone number, your email, your address. We need tools to fight back. Not black boxes that give you a trust score with no explanation. Real tools that show you exactly why something is suspicious, backed by government data and hard evidence.
That's why I built ScamVerify™.
How We Verify Threats
Every check pulls from multiple independent data sources. We show you exactly what each source found. No black boxes. No opaque trust scores.
